METANOYA
How was the band founded?
Kostya and Vadik were born in the town of Bokovskaya. Kostya was the first one to get interested in music and Vadik begin to learn how to play guitar. This how we got acquainted with music and began to dream. In six months Vadik played guitar very good. He began to write songs and compose music. He wrote more than 10 songs with music for a few months. We gradually began to perform the songs whenever we had a chance to do it. The time went by and we didn’t have major changes. In 2003 we came to Rostov-on-Don to study at the Musical College. By that time Kostya had some experience in singing and playing guitar. Vadik also played good. At the collage Vadik made friends with Ilya and his younger brother Jenya.
Ilya and Jenya were born in Rostov and were fond of music from childhood. They had listened to different kinds of music and dreamed about having a band. But they got involved in music just recently. Jenya began to learn how to play drams 5 years ago. He is not separated with his drums and tries to higher his level. Ilya began to intentionally play bass-guitar 3 years ago. But before that he was studying and practicing to become a sound technicians and this guy likes a good sound. At that time Kostya was intentionally looking for a drummer, he found Jenya. At first we were 3 to play – Kostya – bass-guitar, Vadik – electric guitar, and Jenya – drums. But it wasn’t like this for a long time. Kostya found out that Ilya plays bass. It improves the position of a starting band. These were our first steps into the world of living music. The band has just turned 2 years old.
What kind of music do you listen to??
Vadik, for example, is fond of Jazz. Ilya listens to Hard Rock. Dream theater Evgeny listens to different kinds of Rock Music, different singers. I, Kostya listen to POD, I like British Rock as well as reggae.
Who writes songs and who composes music?
I, Kostya, is mostly the one who writes texts, sometimes Vadik writes it, too. Mainly Vadik is
composes music, but sometimes Kostya does it, too. Basically we get together for practice twice a week and create our masterpieces together.
What is the content of our songs?
We sing about Biblical truth, sing about pure relationship between people. We sing about love, about society problems and show the way out of it
What does «METANOYA» mean?
We have changed the name of the band. At first it was "Living Sounds," but we change it to our current name. METANOYA translates from Greek as Mind Change.
Why this name??
Because we are against amorality, against violence, against any kind of crime. We strife to influence this World with our talents and our lives, as it needs to be changed. If you change your thoughts, then all your life will be changed, and we believe that only God can do that.
What is your style?
It is difficult to define the band style. Starding with melodical rock up to hard rock. We try to create something different from others. What audiences are playing for? We play for young audience, in Rostov clubs, in neighboring towns (Taganrog, Novocherkassk and etc.) We participate in different concerts and youth festivals.
