NEW STAFF! У нас новый сотрудник!

posted Feb 23, 2010 12:15 PM by Rachel Molitor   [ updated Mar 1, 2010 7:37 AM by Rachel Molitor ]

Victor was a student on our last DTS and he has joined us on staff!!

How Victor joined us on DTS was quite exciting!! He came in faith... he contacted us during our first week and we said ok, maybe, but send us an application as we were thinking it is probably to late to have someone come all the way from Siberia... but instead of just sending his application Victor got a train and showed up at the station here in Rostov 3 days later!! We were shocked... but as we prayed and chatted with Victor we were excited to see him join us and be apart of our school!

We are excited to welcome Victor to our family and community now as a full time staff member. We are excited about him serving here in Rostov with us and the exciting ways in which God wants to use Victor here around base, the city and further...
Victor will be serving around the base helping with repairs and daily care of our property; he will also be helping us in administrative areas. Victor will also be joining street outreach and visiting an after school center for children. He has a real heart for youth though and is looking for opportunities to get involved full time in ministry with them. He also has a heart for Muslims and will continue to do at least short term trips to the Caucasus region.

Please pray for Victor as he adjusts to a new lifestyle... in full time missions and community living!
Please pray as Victor is working on raising monthly financial support in order to continue to serve with us.

That is all for now

Visiting Team

They have been here almost 2 weeks and I thought you would enjoy hearing about their first impressions, their favourite days and the different things they think about Russia.

I did not manage to get comments from all of them but most of them are represented! They are a team of 11 from the Compassion DTS in Kona, Hawaii. Ben, Sarah, Byron, Laura, Jon, Breanna, Jeremy, Mica, Alicia, Kay and Miranda.
Here are some of the comments and statements they had to make...
Breanna - "This is like heaven, snow falling and it's just awesome!" (This is what she thought when she first left the airport but the drive home changed some things) "...but there was hopelessness and lostness."
Byron - I like it, it's good!"
Jeremy - "Its like home but not..."
Mica - "it is overwhelming, the orphanages, the poverty - in America you don't see it like here."
Byron - "Dirty streets, they don't plow here and you don't see pick up trucks like home."
Kay - "It is the little cultural things that can be intense."
Sarah - "They walk in high heel boots in the snow, I can't even walk in tennis shoes!"
Breanna - "I realized how blessed we are."
Laura and Mica - "My favourite day was when we visited the Tuberclosis hospital."
Jeremy - "Probably going to the rehab, praying for people and hearing their stories."
Kay - "when we visited the homeless on the (hot water) pipes, it broke my heart and opened my eyes."
Sarah - "The Rehabilitation center and our day off when we went ice skating and to IKEA, that was a fun day!"
Byron - "Giving away my coat."
Laura - "I think as a team we all love it here!"
It has been a pleasure and a blessing to have them so far and we look forward to the coming weeks with them. Keep up the good work!!

Baby Aziza

She was born on January 4th 2010. Baby Aziza's mom was only 15 years old, since then she turned 16. After spending almost 2 weeks in the hospital baby Aziza'a mom and extended family checked her out of the hospital... they did not want to give Aziza to her mother because her mom is so young!
Here are some pictures of Baby Aziza... Mommy and Aziza, Aziza and Grandma and Aziza

Pray for Aziza's mom as she is having to learn quickly about taking care of her own!
Pray for Aziza as there may be a problem with her heart - they are going to see some doctors for a consulation about this.
Pray for us we work in blessing mom and baby when we are able.

2010

2010 is off to a quiet but busy start. On base there are not a lot of people but we are in the midst of a lot of preparation.
First we have our students from our most recent discipleship training school coming back in just under 2 weeks. They will be returning from their 2 month outreach where they visited Moldova, Romania and the Ukraine.
Only a few days after they arrive we are expecting a Compassion DTS team from Hawaii flying from Turkey to Rostov. Here in Russia they will be completing their DTS outreach. We are excited about having them here with us and are busy preparing ministry opportunities for them.

This Saturday our Discipleship Training School is leaving for Moldova. They will travel by bus from Rostov to Chisinau - 21 hours on the bus!
There they will be completing the last 2 weeks of their lecture phase and then staying on for the start of their outreach. From there they will travel to Romania for the remaining outreach time.

Pray for them as they travel and go through the Russian Ukrainian border and the Moldovan Ukrainian border.
Pray that they would be able to receive during their last 2 weeks of lectures.
Pray they would be drawn together more as a team.
